Subject: Important Notice Regarding Faucet Remediation

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We hope this letter finds you well. We are writing to inform you about the recent identification of elevated lead levels in some of the faucets within our facility. Please be assured that we are taking immediate and comprehensive measures to address this issue and prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Remediation Plan: To rectify the situation, we have developed a thorough remediation plan that encompasses various facets to ensure the safety of everyone in our school. Here are the key steps we are taking:

Clearly Labeled Faucets: All faucets identified with elevated lead levels have been clearly labeled to indicate that the water should not be consumed at this time. These labels are prominently placed to ensure everyone is aware of the current status.

New Aerators Installation: Faucets with elevated lead levels will undergo remediation through the installation of new aerators. This proactive step aims to significantly reduce lead levels and provide a safer water source.

Filters in Kitchen Faucets: Kitchen faucets, where the need for clean water is critical, will be equipped with additional filters to ensure an extra layer of protection. This measure is specifically designed to safeguard water used in cooking and food preparation.

Safe Water Source for Cooking: Despite the identified issues, we want to reassure you that we have designated a safe faucet for any cooking or food-related activities. Rest assured that the water used in these processes meets safety standards.

Retesting and Monitoring: The faucets with higher lead levels will be retested within the timeframe mandated by the state. This ongoing monitoring ensures that our remediation efforts are effective and that we fully comply with regulatory requirements. It is important to note that recent testing indicated that all water fountains registered levels below the reporting limit (BRL).

We understand that this information may be concerning, and we want to emphasize our commitment to transparency and the safety of our school community.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to resolve this matter promptly and effectively.

Sincerely,

Russell E. Holden
Superintendent
