Welcome back Lakers!!

Do you have a new student in the district?

Is your returning student planning to resume riding the bus after taking an extended break?

If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, please be sure to email the Transportation Director. [email protected]  Please include your student(s) name, grade level and address so we can find a seat and a stop for you.

Please review your child’s bus route for schedule changes!

All of the routes have had slight changes that likely won't affect your student. However, the students on The Georges Mills Bus  number 4 and the Wendell Bus number 6 have had significant changes. If you have any questions or concerns after you have reviewed the routes please direct them to [email protected] We will get back to you as soon as possible.

A gentle reminder to please arrive at your bus stop 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick up time. Please be out of your house/car and give hugs and kisses so your student is prepared to board the bus as soon as the doors are open and the driver signals it is safe. (Please do not make the other families or the traffic behind the bus wait)

Also, for the safety of our students and to avoid leaving any little ones unsupervised, we require a caregiver to be present and visible to the driver for all students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade unless prior arrangements and releases of liability have been made in writing and approved by the district.

***Please be aware there will be traffic flow changes and delays for the start of this school year. Extra Caution and patience will be imperative and appreciated as we all navigate Lower Main St safely during the ongoing Water Department project. We are anticipating a full return to normal traffic flow by early October.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

We are all geared up and looking forward to another fun and safe school year!!!

There are a few changes being made to our School Bus Conduct Rules that we would like to make you aware of for the upcoming school year.

1.  Although the school buses are designed with high seats for crash barrier protection, the added safety provided by a seatbelt is undeniable. Therefore, we will be asking all passengers who sit where a seatbelt is available to wear it at all times when the bus is in motion. The small buses have seatbelts on every seat. The full sized buses have seatbelts on the foremost seats near the driver. This is the area typically occupied by our smallest riders and the use of the belts will aid in the transition from the security of their carseats to the great big school bus seats.

2.  In light of the new restriction of personal electronic devices at school, we are anticipating a surge in their use both before and after school. Prior to this new legislature we were experiencing disruptive behavior stemming directly from cell phone use on the buses. This behavior has resulted in serious distractions to the drivers as well as emotional distress, rough housing, etc. amongst the students. Although most of the students are responsible with their devices, there are still so many who struggle with what is or is not appropriate for school. Therefore, we will be extending the bell to bell rule to include time spent on the school bus as well. No personal electronic devices shall be used on buses without prior authorization

3.  Infractions of these new rules will follow the same consequence sequences outlined in the School Districts Policy JICC-R .

Elementary school dismissal plans are managed through PickUp Patrol.  Changes must be submitted prior to 2:00pm each day.   Access PickUp Patrol here
